The 2014 Tour de France Stage 1 on Saturday 5th July 2014 will be passing closeby, taking the route Leeds - Harewood - Otley - Ilkley - Skipton - Kettlewell - Aysgarth - Hawes - Reeth - Leyburn - Ripon - Harrogate. Click here to download timings and itinerary.

Flax Mill will be the perfect base for your stay - away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to be part of it when you want. You could easily avoid the queues by taking the Wensleydale Railway into Leyburn - see the train timetable for that day by clicking here.

Alternatively, if you're feeling energetic, you could take the footpath/cycle path to Leyburn.
